In May 2014, Make-A-Wish will hold itsí 2nd annual Trailblaze Challenge hike experience on the weekends of May 16 - May 18, 2014 and May 30 - June 1, 2014. This is an opportunity for adventure, fun and fitness while making a direct impact on the lives of children in our community battling life-threatening medical conditions.
About The Trail
The trail (24.1 miles): Commencing at Appletree Campground in the upper Nantahala Gorge to Nantahala Lake, the trek ascends and briefly joins the Appalachian Trail from Winespring Bald to Wayah Bald. The top of Wayah Bald, at 5385 feet, is the highest point on the trail which then descends the Nantahala Mountains finishing the adventure outside Franklin, NC.
*The 15.6 mile option will start at Saw Mill Gap and end outside Franklin, NC.

Included in your Challenge:
Specialized training program including a workout calendar and bi-weekly group hikes
Training Clinics: Hiking boots, socks and other trail essentials, hydration and nutrition, and cross training

Hotel Accommodations on hike weekends will be at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Franklin, NC; Friday, May 16 to Sunday, May 18 (3-days/2-nights) or Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1. (3-days/2-nights)

How Will I Reach My Goals?
Make-A-Wish will support hike participants each step of the way by providing each participant with a personalized fundraising webpage, as well as sponsorship and fundraising materials, tips and advice. Each Trailblazer will be provided with a specialized training program and will be invited to attend bi-weekly coach led training sessions and informal meet-ups.
